King: There was absolutely no spying going on. This has been held by the courts through total compliance with the fourth amendment. And that type of irrational rhetoric gets us nowhere. The fact is this works. It protects us, and it's not violating the rights of one. Not one American's right has been violated. It's irresponsible to be coming out with those ridiculous statements. Crowley: I'll let you respond to irrational, and then we'll go to cornell. Chris Plant: listen, when we're scanning every piece of mail that goes through the post office, we're keeping the phone logs on every phone call made, we're collecting e-mails, collecting

Ruppersberger continued 3: But we can do better. I have to educate my caucus more, the democratic caucus and we're trying to declassify as much as we can. We -- Raddatz: representative king, i want a very quick response from you, if you will. Thank you, representative ruppersberger. Ruppersberger: okay, fine. Radatz: just a quick response, please. King: over the last several weeks general Alexander, all these top people have come in and subjected themselves to questioning from any member of Congress at all including those most critical. And I’ve found those who are most critical publicly

King continued: ask the least amount of questions in private. But he's answered every question. They get the information, they sit there and they go -- they just – Raditz: so they're just not telling the truth? King: with the members of Congress. I've never seen, to me it's unprecedented to have all of these top people from an administration during this time of crisis still come in and answer question after question after question, so anyone who says that Congress is somehow being stonewalled is just wrong and is generally, i think, raised by people who are trying to make a name for themselves.

King response to Pres. Obama's Press conf. on 8/9/13: This is a terrible failure of leadership. This is the NSA version of the Obama apology talk. This is a successful program. The NSA program is successful. Yesterday the president is allowing Edward Snowden to pull the puppet strings. This man is a traitor to our country and the president somehow feels he has to cater to him. For the last two months since this issue has been out there, the president has been AWOL, MIA. he's been silent.

King: No president. Nobody from the administration actively defending this program. And In a time of war we’re suddenly setting up a task force to tell him what he should be doing. Can you imagine Franklin Roosevelt or harry Truman or Winston church hill doing this? We’re at war. And he wants to make reforms or changes, every program we have is always susceptible to some reform. But to be silent about it and suddenly jump because Edward Snowden has

King continued: revealed secrets and put our country at risk, it's somehow like a moral equivalency. Snowden has one way of doing it, President Obama has another way of doing it. I wish he showed the same anger toward Edward Snowden as he did toward republicans on obamacare. There was no outrage there when he was asked do you think he's a patriot? What do you mean you don't think he is? What do you mean you don’t think he is. This man's a traitor. He’s indicted for espionage by his administration at time of war. So again, to me commander in chief should show much more war time leadership than has been shown by the president on this issue on a very successful program.

Ruppersberger continued 2: new York through 9/11 i know what life and death means. We cannot afford to have this become a debating society. We need decisions made quickly, yes or no, up or down, lives are at stake.
